Description
Portrait of Henricus Slatius (1585-1623; also known as: Hendrik Slaet, Henricus Slatius), a Netherlands remonstrant preacher and writer. He was one of the conspirators against prince Maurits of Orange-Nassau, with handcuffs and footcuffs, in the clothing in which he was captured, 1623. On the right on the ground is the beer jug, in the background Coevorden. A verse in Dutch is printed to the left of the plate.

Biography engraver: Claes Jansz. Visscher (II)(1586-1652), was a draftsman and etcher, and also one of the most important publishers of prints, maps and topographical views. In these capacities he played a leading role in the development of Dutch landscape art. .
