BACKGROUND INFORMATION

From a series of 52 plates of famous reformers and theologians: ‘Praestantium aliquot Theologorum qui Rom. Antichristum praecipue oppugnarunt, Effigies.’, by Jacos Verheiden, 1602.

Biography engraver: Hendrik de Hondt / Henricus Hondius (1573-1659) was a Flermish engraver, draughtman, publisher and author from Duffel. He was a student of Jan Wierix in Antwerp and was active in Holland from 1597.
