Eleven portraits from English history by Cornelis Martinus Vermeulen.
Biography engraver: Cornelis Vermeulen or Cornelis Martinus Vermeulen (1654/55-1708/09) was a Flemish printmaker who is mainly known for his portraits, reproductive prints, frontispieces and illustrations. He trained in Antwerp and worked a number of years in Paris.
Biography artist: Adriaen van der Werff (1659-1722) was a Dutch painter of portraits and erotic, devotional and mythological scenes. He painted several works for the Medicis. His brother, Pieter van der Werff (1661-1722), was his principal pupil and assistant.
