Original antique print showing a portrait of Philip the Handsome (1478 – 1506), also called the Fair, ruler of the Burgundian Netherlands and titular Duke of Burgundy from 1482 to 1506, as well as the first Habsburg King of Castile (as Philip I) for a brief time in 1506.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published in France c. 1750.
Biography engraver: Jean Jacques Filipart (1719-1782) was a French engraver. His father was French engraver Jean Charles Flipart, under whom he received his initial training in the engraver’s art. Flipart later trained under French engraving master Laurent Cars (1699-1771). His brother Charles Joseph Flipart was noted both for his engraving and painting oeuvre.
