Sheet size: 41,5 x 31 cm. (16,3 x 12,2 inch). Image size: 41 x 30,5 cm. (16,1 x 12 inch).

This attractive print was published around 1780 This is an optical print, also called ?vue optique? or ?vue d?optique?, which were made to be viewed through a Zograscope, or other devices of convex lens and mirrors, all of which produced an optical illusion of depth.

Made by ‘Anonymous’ after ‘Cesare Bassano ‘. Cesare Bassano (1584?1648) was an Italian painter and engraver. He was born at Milan. Publisher: Giuseppe Antonio Remondini (1634 -1711), around 1660, founded a printing office where he developed in particular the production of illustrated books. He created the famous school of chalcography which became one of the major European centers of this art. Then to his son Giuseppe (1672-1742), and to his sons Giovanni Antonio (1700-69) and Giambattista (1713-73). Next Giuseppe (1745-1811). Firm finally closed in 1860.

Condition: Good, given age. Light soiling. Trimmed to image. Attached to cardboard. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
