Medium: Engraving / etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 19.2 x 25.2 cm (7.56 x 9.92 inch). Image size: 13.8 x 18.2 cm. (5.43 x 7.17 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Paper slightly browned. Tiny worm hole lower right, just outside image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This attractive print was published in 1758 by De Hondt, The Hague. Early engravings from Antoine Francois Prevost: Histoire Generale des Voyages. Vol. 16. These are illustrations were previously published by Francois Valentijn in 1726.
Biography engraver: Jakob van der Schley (1715-1779) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver, who mostly did portrait engravings and frontispieces for books throughout his career.
