Made by Pierre Drevet after Adriaen van der Werff. Pierre Drevet (1663-1738) was a French engraver, the first of a line of leading portrait engravers in their time. Pierre studied under Germain Audran and later with Gerard Audran. He made court engraver in 1696, and was admitted to the Academie in 1707. Adriaen van der Werff 1659–1722 was an accomplished Dutch painter of portraits and erotic, devotional and mythological scenes. His brother, Pieter van der Werff 1661–1722, was his principal pupil and assistant.
Condition: Good, given age. Light foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
