Einde van de slag’ / ‘Fin du combat’. – This hand coloured print shows a view on the end of a naval battle between Dutch and English vessels. Damaged ships in front with sails up. In the back smoke from canons while still firing. Part of a series of four prints of sea battles in 1781.

This attractive print was published around 1788 in Augsburg. From a series of 4.

Made by ‘J.X. Marianus’ after ‘Anonymous’. Publisher: Georg Balthasar Probst (1732 ? 1801) was a German artist, engraver and publisher in Augsburg, a major European publishing center in the 17th and 18th centuries. He produced architectural views of places around the world, including vues d?optique, which were published in various places during the last half of the 18th century, including Paris, Augsburg and London.

Condition: Good, given age. Overall staining , folding and creasing. Paper added on the reverse in the margins for strenghtening. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
