Part Entomology. Plate IV, order Coleoptera titled: Genus Lucanus, g. Dermestes, g. Silpha. It shows: 1. L. Cervus, 2. L. Inermis, 3. D. Viginti Guttatus, 4. D. Sex-Dentatus, 5. D. Brachypterus, 6. D. Pedicularius, 7. D. Picipeps, 8. S. Hoemorrhoidalis, 9. S. Rufipes, 10. S. Quadri Guttata, 11. S. Marginalis (partly also with magnified views). This original antique print originates from Rees’ ‘The Cyclopaedia. or, Universal Dictionary opf Arts, Sciences and Literature’. This important 19th-century encyclopedic work was published in serialized form from 1802 to 1820. The entire Cyclopaedia consisted of 39 volumes of text, 5 volumes of plates and an atlas.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Milton after Sydenham Teast Edwards.

Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and mild foxing. Please study scan carefully.
