Antique print, titled: ‘Transferement de Bonaparte du Bellerophon a bord du Northumberland, Le 8 Aout 1815.’ – (Transfer of Napoleon from the Bellerophon on board the Northumberland, On August 8, 1815). This print shows the transfer of Napoleon from the Bellerophon to the Northumberland, to be carried into exile on Saint Helena. The Bellerophon was deemed to old to survive the journey to Saint Helena, thus the transfer to the more modern 74-gun HMS Northumberland. Edme Bovinet (1767-1832) was a French engraver, a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Patas. Louis-Francois Couche (1782-1849) was a French draughtsman and engraver. He studies design under Louis Lafitte and engraver with his father (Jacques Couche).
