Plate 100: ‘Dum nova Naiadum turba ….. Eurydice …..’ (Euridyce, wife of Orpheus is among the Naiadus as she is killed by a snake). These delicate engravings were published in 1802 by Burglen in Augsburg in a work called:”Ovids Verwandlungen in kupfer von den bessten Kunstlern Deutschlands vorgestellt, …” These specific engravings have a slightly different plate numbering and the paper appears more luxurious. Our analysis is they might be from a slightly different edition or perhaps even printed as seperate prints.Artists and Engravers: Unknown (Kilian?). The book title says that several of the best German artists made these engravings.
