Medium: Etching and engraving, hand-colored on Hand-laid paper paper. Watermark: Not visible.

Sheet size: 24.1 x 17.4 cm (9.49 x 6.85 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, soilng and creasing. Ghosting from previous matting. Manuscript writing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Included in: ‘Vaderlandsche gezichten, of afbeeldingen van den tegenwoordigen staat der Vereenigde Nederlanden’ published by Hendrik Gartman, Willem Vermandel, and Jan Willem Smit, 1786-1792. Also included in ‘Tableau des principales vues des palais et edifices…’ published around 1824-1825.

Biography engraver: Carel Frederik Bendorp (I) was a Dutch engraver known for his detailed etchings and engravings based on drawings by various artists.

Biography artist: Jan Bulthuis was a Dutch artist who created many detailed drawings of topographical views in the Netherlands. He worked closely with engravers like Carel Frederik Bendorp.
