Antique print, titled: ‘Merle Ochrocephale, male.’ – (Turdus octrocepialus) Thrush species, male. This rare plate originates from “Nouveau receuil de planches coloriees d’Oiseaux …”, by C.J. Temminck & Meiffren Laugier de Chartrouse, published in Paris & Amsterdam, 1820-1838-1839. This is Temminck’s monumental work and considered a continuation of the works by Buffon. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘Huet & Pretre’. Author: Coenraad Jacob Temminck (Dutch. 1778-1858) is regarded as one of the foremost ornithologists of his time.
Condition: Very good, given age. Light foxing. Paper edges a bit browned. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
