This rare print shows the map of the fortification of Hulst, Zeeland, Netherlands in 1645.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Padre Vincenzo Maria Coranelli.
Medium: Engraving on handlaid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 24 x 19 cm (9.45 x 7.48 inch). Image size: 17.8 x 12.3 cm. (7.01 x 4.84 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Fold in lower right margin. Small tears in lower margin restored. Creases. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This attractive print was published in Theatro della Guerra by Coronelli, in 1706.
Biography artist: The author of this work is Vincenzo Maria (Padre) Coronelli (1650-1718): Father Corronelli was a Franciscan priest, who spend most of his life in Venice. He was a noted theologian and was appointed as Father General of his order in 1699. At that time he was already famous as a mathematician, cartographer and globe maker. He was very infuential, compiled and engraved over 500 maps. His most well known work is the 2-volume ‘Atlante Veneto’ but is is equally well known for his very large terrestrial and celestial globes. One, 15 feet in diameter he made for Louis XIV of France.
