(Representation of the ordinary trade winds along the coast of the Atlantic and Indian ocean) This original engraving originates from ‘Historische Beschryving der Reizen, of Nieuwe of Volkome Verzameling van de allerwaardigste en zeldzaamste zee- en land-togten [ï¿½]’, volume 21. This is a continuation of Abbe Prevost’s work ‘Histoire Generale des Voyages’, published in Amsterdam by Roman, De Groot, Loveringh, et al (1767).Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Jakob van der Schley (Amsterdam, 1715-1779). Van der Schley was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver, who studied under Bernard Picart, and whose style he subsequently copied.
Condition: Very good, given age. Two folds, as issued. Dampstain in the top right corner margin (not affecting image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
