Johannes / Jan Weissenbruch (1822-1880) was one of the most famous Dutch realistic painters of mostly city scenes. He also made watercolors, lithographs and etchings. Light, shadow and atmosphere characterize his work. He was also active as a restorer and art collector. He was a cousin of Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch. His work can be found in major museums like the Rijksmuseum and Teylers.
