– Bust portrait in priest’s vestments, facing slightly right. Set against a stippled background, detailed shading in fabric and facial features. Leonardus van Veghel (c. 1527-1572), Catholic priest from ‘s-Hertogenbosch, one of the 19 Martyrs of Gorkum hanged by the Geuzen on 9 July 1572 in Den Briel. Canonized in 1867 by Pope Pius IX.
