‘LE CHIEN ET LE CERF’

– Plate 141: A dramatic sculpture of a dog over a fallen stag, captured mid-action. The dog straddles the body of the deer, mouth open in aggression, with water spouting from its mouth in a graceful arc. This fountain group, rich in tension, likely symbolizes the hunt and triumph, themes popular in French royal gardens.
