Subject: Antique print, titled: ”Schloss zu Cleve vom neuen Wall aus. – Le Chateau de Cleve vu du nouveau rempart. – The castle of Cleve seen from the new rempart.” – Nice view of the castle and parts of the city of Kleve seen from it”s new rempart.
Condition: Good, given age. Ample margins. Some remains of tape from previous attachment on rear. A few small rust stains and paper edges a bit browned. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Steel engraving with hand colouring on wove (vellin) paper.
Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 29.5 x 23 cm. The image size is ca. 18 x 14 cm.

Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Johann Poppel’ after ‘I. Rohbock’. Engraver: Johann Poppel (1807-1882) was a German copper and steel engraver, publisher and architectural draughtsman. Publisher: Ludwig Lange (1808-1868) was a German architect and landscape designer. He is remembered for series of prints depicting the architecture along the Rhine and German towns.
