Made by an anonymous engraver after Pierre Auguste Joseph Drapiez (1778-1856).

Engraving with original hand colouring, heightened with arabic gum on wove (vellin) paper.

Sheet size: 17 x 26.5 cm (6.69 x 10.43 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light text ghosting. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This attractive original antique print / plate originates from: ‘Dictionnaire Classique des Sciences Naturelles …’ (Classic dictionary of natural sciences), by M. Drapiez. published in Brussels, 1853. This work elaborates on the work of Buffon, Daubenton, Lacepede, Cuvier, de Jussieu a.o. Artists and Engravers: Pierre Auguste Joseph Drapiez (1778-1856) was a Belgian naturalist.
