Antique print, titled: ‘Jeanne Gray’ – Portrait of Lady Jane Gray (1537-1554), an English noblewoman and de facte queen of England for nine days. As a result she is also known as The Nine Day Queen. Source unknown, to be determined. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Vermeulen’ after ‘Adrn vander Werff’. Cornelis Martinus Vermeulen (1644-1708) was a Flemish Baroque engraver. Adriaen van der Werff (1659-1722) was an accomplished Dutch painter of portraits and erotic, devotional and mythological scenes. His brother, Pieter van der Werff (1661–1722), was his principal pupil and assistant.
Condition: Very good, given age. Margin little soiled from handling. A faint stain in the top margin and top edge of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
