Made by ‘William G. Unger’ after ‘Jan Steen’. William G. Unger, 1837 Hannover – 1932 Innsbruck, was aquarellist, etcher, engraver, graficus, painter and kopiist. He made many etchings and engravings after famous artists like Jan Steen, Frans Hals and Rembrandt. As professor of graphic arts at the Vienna Academy he had pupil from Germany, France and Austria. He arranged the Zeitschrift fur bildendekunst (1866), and magazines about etching and grafic art and lithografy. Unger held exhibitions in Paris (1878), Vienna (1888) and Berlin (1891).
Condition: Good, given age. Brown spots verso, not visible front. Matting glued to the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
