Etching / engraving on Hand laid (verge) paper. Watermark: DGI (lettering).
Sheet size: 31,5 x 25,3 cm. (12,4 x 10 inch). Image size: 29,5 x 23 cm. (11,6 x 9,1 inch).

Age estimate 1780.

Made by Levaseur after Vernet. Jean-Charles Le Vasseur / Levasseur / Levaseur (1734-1816) was a French engraver from Abbeville, student of Jacques-Firmin Beauvarlet and later Jean Daulle. He was accepted to the Academy and became Royal engraver in 1771. Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714 – 1789) was a French painter, especially of landscapes and marines. Trained at Avignon; active at Aix-en-Provence, Rome, Paris.

Condition: Good, given age. Trimmed at plate edge. Small stain at bottom left. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
