BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published in France, dated 1724.
Biography engraver: Bernard Picart was born in Paris in 1673. He came from a family of printmakers and publishers. After 1700 he moved to Amsterdam, where he was active as printmaker and publisher. His prints in the “French” taste were very popular. His way of working was also very influential for the bookillustration in the Netherlands.
Biography artist: Sarah Hoadley (1676-1743) worked as portrait painter.
