Biography engraver: Engraved by C. Taylor after S. Shelley. Charles Taylor (1756-1823) was a British (stipple) engraver, also known as a man of letters and biblical scholar. Samuel Shelley (1756-1808) was a London-born artist. He was greatly influenced by Joshua Reynolds, despite being self-taught as a miniaturist.
