Antique print, titled: ‘Te Amsterdam By Antoni en Adrianus Schoonenburg.’ – Frontispiece to the described work. An allegorical depiction of the well to do in the foreground protected by mythological figures includding Cupid, Venus and Athena as oposed to the background with a fighting mass. Title page included. From: ‘Batavische Arcadia […]’, by J. van Heemskerk, 8yh ed. published in Leiden by Wed. A. Honkoop en Zoon, and Johannes le Mair, 1765. This pastoral novel was a great success in its Home country. Editing was done by a famous professor of Amsterdam (Caspar Barleus). Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘A. van Laan’ after ‘T. Onkruyt’. Adolf van der Laan (1684-1742) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver. Author: Johan van Heemskerk (1597-1656) was a Dutch author and member of the High Court of Holland.

Condition: Very good, given age. Left paper edge a bit irregular from binding. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
