– Another fine example of an erotic French engraving from around 1900, after Achille Deveria. The scene unfolds in an intimate boudoir setting, where a well-dressed gentleman eagerly engages with a partially undressed woman seated on a couch. Her expression suggests playful resistance. A second woman peeks through a partially open door in the background, adding to the intrigue of the composition. The refined interior, complete with delicate wallpaper, a side table with scattered objects, and a carefully placed painting on the wall, enhances the sense of private domesticity. Dev?ria was known for his masterful ability to depict sensual and provocative moments with a touch of humor and elegance.
