Plate 10: ‘Frederic II et son Fauconnier, XIIIe Siecle.’ (Frederick II and his Falconer, 13th century). Frederick II (1194 – 1250), was one of the most powerful Holy Roman Emperors of the Middle Ages and head of the House of Hohenstaufen. This delicate original antique print originates from ‘Costumes Historiques des XIIe, XIIIe, XIVe, et XVI siecles’ by Camille Bonnard published in Paris by A. Levy Fils 1860. In 1827 Camille Bonnard began this monumental gallery of 13th to 15th century European costumes, published in 75 parts over the next two years, with beautiful hand-colored plates by Paul Mercuri. This work was later continued by Duplessis (16th to 18th century). Condition: Excellent, given age. A small band of the top margin browned. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
