Sheet size: 17 x 26,5 cm. (6,7 x 10,4 inch). Image size: 13,5 x 16 cm. (5,3 x 6,3 inch).

From: ‘Les Fleurs Animees, par J.-J. Grandville.’, ed. published in Brussels by A. Delavau. 1852. This was one of Grandville’s last books and one of his own personal favourites, first published by Gabriel de Gonet in Paris, 1847. This is a less common ed. In this work flowers are depicted / metamorphosized as women or anthropomorphic flowers.

Made by ‘E. Deligne / de Ligne’ after ‘Jean-Ignace-Isodore Grandville’. Jean-Ignace-Isodore Grandville is the pseud. for Jean Ignace Isador Gerard (1803-1847) who worked as an illustrator, painter and caricaturist. He is one of the most famous French 19th. caricaturists ands famous for his depictions of human figures as flowers and animals.

Condition: Very good, given age. Very light soiling and some foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
