Made by ‘Pierre-Francois Basan’ after ‘David Teniers’. Pierre-Francois Basan (Paris 1723-1797) is a French engraver. He was a pupil of Etienne Fessard and Jean Daulle. He was principally occupied as a printseller, and published a ‘Dictionnaire des Graveurs’ in 1789. David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) was a Flemish artist, born in Antwerp. He was the son of David Teniers the Elder, while his son and grandson also became painters. He was a wildly prolific painter, creating over 900 works. During his life he started the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, after having presided over the Antwerp guild of painters.

Condition: Very good, given age. Trimmed near plate edge. Small tear in left paper edge, not effecting image. Paper edges a bit irregular. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
