BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Leaf from a Latin edition of Ph?drus’ Fabulae. Features Fabula XVIII: Pavo ad Junonem de Voce Sua, with engraving and printed Latin/Greek text. Printed in Amsterdam in 1667. Ph?drus (ca. 15 BC ? ca. 50 AD) was a Roman fabulist who translated and adapted Aesop’s fables into Latin verse. His works survived in various medieval and Renaissance editions.
