Gerrit Janszoon Vos (March or April 1577, Heidelberg – 19 March 1649, Amsterdam), often known by his Latin name Gerardus Vossius, was a Dutch classical scholar and theologian. In 1600 he was made rector of the latin school in Dordrecht, and devoted himself to philology and historical theology. From 1614 to 1619 he was director of the theological college at Leiden University. (source: Wikipedia)
By: Abraham Bloteling / Blooteling (1640-1690) was a Dutch minature painter, engraver / etcher, publisher and draftsman. Student of Visscher. His sister married Gerard Valck. From 1673 upon invitation of David Loggan he and Gerard Valck went to Londen regularly.
After: Joachim von Sandrart der Alte. (1606 – 1688). Sandrart, born in Frankfurt am Main, was a famous art historian, painter, engraver and translator. His most famous work ´Teutsche Academie…´ was published in 1675 and a second extended edition in 1679.
Condition: Small chip at top middle paper edge; two small tears at left middle paper edge, ectending just to image; bottom left corner a bit thin and slight pape loss.
