BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Lemercier & Cie was one of the most renowned 19th-century lithographic printers in Paris, known for high-quality artistic reproductions and chromolithographs. Founded by Rose-Joseph Lemercier, the firm printed for leading artists and publishers in the 19th century.

Biography artist: Leopold de Moulignon (1821-1897) was a French painter and illustrator known for genre scenes and sentimental subjects, often featuring children and animals. He was active in Paris and associated with the academic realist tradition.
