Antique print, titled: ‘1. Emberizoide oreillon, male. 2. Id. longibande, male.’ – 1. Emberiza melanotis – Manorina melanotis (Black-eared or Dusky Miner Murray mallee.) 2. Fringilla macroura – Emberiza macroura This rare plate originates from “Nouveau receuil de planches coloriees d’Oiseaux …”, by C.J. Temminck & Meiffren Laugier de Chartrouse, published in Paris & Amsterdam, 1820-1838-1839. This is Temminck’s monumental work and considered a continuation of the works by Buffon. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘Huet & Pretre’. Author: Coenraad Jacob Temminck (Dutch. 1778-1858) is regarded as one of the foremost ornithologists of his time.

Condition: Very good, given age. Light foxing. Paper edges a bit browned. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
