Biography engraver: Jan Goeree (1670-1731) was a Dutch engraver and poet. Jan Goeree was the son of the Middelburg bookseller Willem Goeree. At a young age, he moved to Amsterdam with his father. Among other things, he made engravings of various buildings in Amsterdam. In 1705 he was commissioned by the city council to make sketches for the paintings of the vault of the main hall of the town hall. Under his supervision, these were then carried out by J. Hoogzaat and G. Rademaker.
