a full-length portrait of Dirk VII, Count of Holland, standing against an architectural background with a scene from his life, wearing armour, a fur-lined coat and a feathered hat, holding a bastard sword with his right hand, a shield on his right shoulder. Within a decorated border of vanitas motifs, weapons and armor, and other hunting and war-related objects.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Halma.
Medium: Etching / engraving. The border handcoloured, the portrait uncoloured. on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 26.4 x 37.6 cm (10.39 x 14.8 inch). Image size: 24.5 x 33.4 cm. (9.65 x 13.15 inch).
Condition: excellent, given age. Small holes (from the original book binding) in the right margin/edge of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
