Antique print, titled: ”Kathuyser Kerk in Ruwine” – View of the ruin of the Carthusian church near Delft. “Nederlandsche Steden in de 16e Eeuw”, R. Fruin, published ‘s-Gravenhage, Nijhoff, 1916-1923. A scarce facsimile edition of ca. 200 maps by Jacob van Deventer. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘J. Smulders’ after ‘Jacob van Deventer’. Jacob van Deventer (ca. 1500-1575) was a Dutch cartographer, best known for his mammoth work in which he mapped all the cities of the Netherlands (by commission of the King of Spain, and with military intent).
Condition: Very good, given age. A few small stains in text below print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
