BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The original design by Lalonde from 1790. This print originates from ‘Ornements Vases et Decorations’ by Pequegnot, published 1862-1870.
Biography engraver: Auguste Pequegnot (1819-1878) was a French painter and engraver. He painted mainly landscapes and women, under tutelage of Master Ciceri. His main engraving work was ‘Ornements Vases et Decorations’, a series of 100 etchings of architectural, sculptural and decorative arts. Richard de Lalonde (1735-1808) was a French ornamental designer who published influential sets of designs that include detailed specifications for moulding and carving.
