BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This print originates from ‘Costumes de diverses Pays’, an enormous series published in France from 1827.
Biography engraver: Georges Jacques Gatine (c. 1773-c. 1825) was a French engraver. His main work was for these costume prints after Lante, and similar work for Journal des Dames et des Modes. Louis-Marie Lante (1789-?) was a French painter, illustrator and designer. He worked closely with Gatine on creating these colourful costume prints.
