Antique print, titled: ‘Cornelis de Wit.’ – Portrait of the statesman Cornelis de Witt. These portraits are found in editions of P.C. Hooft, Bor, or Jean Le Clerc. Published between 1670 and 1730. Ref: FMP 6161.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Bernard Picart’ after own design. Bernard Picart (1673-1733) was a French painter and engraver. He received his art education from his father, Etienne (1632-1721), from Le Brun and Jouvenet at the Royal Academy. His talents developed rapidly: at the age of sixteen he gained honors at the Academy of Paris. His prints in the “French” taste were very popular. His way of working was also very influential for the book illustration in the Netherlands.

Condition: Good. Ample margins. Attached to carrier sheet. General age related toning and occasional light soiling as visible on the scan. Please study scan carefully.
