This old antique engraved copperplate print originates from ‘Oeuvres completes de Buffon precedees d’une notice sur la vie et les ouvrages de l’auteur, par M. Cuvier.’, published by H.R. Duthilloeul with H. Tarlier, Brussels, 1822.Artists and Engravers: Author: Georges-Louis Le Clerc, Comte de Buffon (1707-1788). French naturalist, mathematician, biologist, cosmologist and author. Buffon’s views influenced the next two generations of naturalists, including Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. Engraved by l’Epine after de Jacques de Seve (active 1744-1788).
Condition: Excellent. General age related toning. Occasional light staining / thumbing from handling. Occasional small holes in margin or paper edgefrom binding, not nearly effecting image.
