Sheet size: 34 x 21 cm. (13,4 x 8,3 inch). Image size: 4 x 9 cm. (1,6 x 3,5 inch).

This original old antique print / plate originates from: ‘Trophees tant sacres que profanes du Duche de Brabant …’, by F. Christophre Butkens, published in The Hague by Chretien van Lom, 1724-1726. This is the second and most lavish edition of this work with many copperplate engravings as oposed to the first edition with mostly woodcuts. This is an important work on history and genealogy of the Duchy of Brabant, which covers part of Belgium and the Netherlands. Author: Christophorus Butkens (1591-1650), a Belgian Cisterian Monk born in Antwerp, known for his wealth of historic information but also his many errors in this.

Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘Christophorus Butkens’.

Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
