Description
The print portrays a wintry scene in a town square. Dominating the composition is a large, stately church with Gothic architectural features, including pointed arches, buttresses, and a large rose window. The church’s fa?ade is partially covered with snow, underscoring the chilly season depicted. In the foreground, daily life continues amidst the snow-covered ground. People are seen going about their business: a group converses in the center, while another individual walks a pair of dogs. To the left, a horse-drawn carriage waits, perhaps for passengers from the church. The presence of the carriage suggests that this scene is from a time when horse-drawn transport was common, likely in the 19th century.
