Sheet size: 18,2 x 15,6 cm. (7,2 x 6,1 inch). Image size: 15,1 x 13,2 cm. (5,9 x 5,2 inch).

From ‘Tafereelen der eerste Christenen, bestaande in 92 konstprenten’ (Scenes of the first Christians, in 92 prints). This book was published in 1740 in Amsterdam by Gerrity de Groot and Jacobus Rijkhof. The prints by Luyken are accompanied by texts by P. Langendyk and C. Bruyn.

Made by ‘Jan Luyken’ after an anonymous artist. Jan Luyken (1649-1712) belonged to the best engravers of the period. His son Casper (1672-1708) assisted with the making of the prints.

Condition: Very good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Small tear in top of middle fold, not affecting print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
