Plate : This plate shows a portrait of Chenneviere, a French poet. Dedicative text by M. Thomas. This old antique print originates from: ‘Dictionnaire des graveurs anciens et modernes depuis l’origine de la gravure, avec une notice des principales estampes qu’ils ont grav�es : suivi du Catalogue des �uvres de Jacques Jordans et de Corneille Visscher, Paris, 1767, in-8 . re-edition, 1789. This work contains many original plates as well as some plates copied by Basan after others. This plate originally published in 1770.Artists and Engravers: This plate by Etienne Fiquet (1719-1794), French engraver of portraits in miniature. Author: Pierre-Francois Basan (Paris 1723-1797) is a French engraver. He was a pupil of Etienne Fessard and Jean Daulle. He was principally occupied as a printseller, and published a ‘Dictionnaire des Graveurs’ in 1789.

Condition: Good. General age-related toning. Scattered foxing, mainly in the margins. Paper loss in bottom left margin not effecting image. Please study scan carefully.
