We see many soldiers with spears, the two leaders in front on horseback, army tents and the city in the background.

Etching / engraving on hand laid (verg?) paper. Watermark: yes.
Sheet size: 38,5 x 30 cm. (15,2 x 11,8 inch). Image size: 34,5 x 27 cm. (13,6 x 10,6 inch).

This attractive print was published in “Oorsprongk, begin, en vervolgh der Nederlandsche oorlogen”, Published Amsterdam by Wed. Joannes van Someren, Abraham Wolfgang, Hendrick and Dirk Boom ca. 1680.

Made by ‘Jan Luyken’ after own design. Jan Luiken / Luyken (1649-1712) belonged to the best engravers of the period.

Condition: Good, given age. Fold as published. Black and brown spots. Two tiny holes. White stains on reverse. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
