Mezzotint style engraving printed from 4 plates on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 26,8 x 33,5 cm. (10,6 x 13,2 inch). Image size: 22 x 31,5 cm. (8,7 x 12,4 inch).

Possibly part of ‘Cahier de Fleurs dessinee par Carle.’, published 1782-1792 in Paris by Louis Joseph Mondhare (1734-1799).

Made by Roubillac after de Carlé. Roubillac (1739-c.1800) was a French engraver from Bayonne, active in Paris. de Carlé was an 18th c. Swiss minature painter from Fribourg. He also served in the Swiss regiment in Paris.

Condition: Very good, given age. 4 Original pin holes from printing process. Light soiling, particularly on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
