Description

‘ ‘t Huys Boekhorst.’

By: Hendrik Spilman after his own drawing. Hendrik / Henricus Spilman (1721-1784) was a Dutch painter, designer and etcher from Amsterdam, active in Haarlem. He was a pupil of Abraham de Haen II. His style resembles A. van Everdingen and N. Berghem. He made mostly town and city views.

Source: “Gezichten voorname Hollandse Dorpen”, published by Evert Maaskamp, Amsterdam ca. 1795.

Medium: Etching / engraving on hand laid paper (verge). Surrounding line added with ink and some hand colouring to accentuate view.
