– Original antique print illustrating a biblical scene from the New Testament, john 20; Mary Magdalene weeps outside Jesus’ empty tomb. A man she thinks is the gardener asks why she is crying. When he speaks her name “Mary” she recognizes his voice as Jesus. Jesus tells her not to cling to him but to tell his disciples he is ascending to God.

Biography artist: Arnold Houbraken (1660-1719) was a painter, engraver and writer from Dordrecht. He was s student of Willem Drillenbrug, Jacob de Vecq and Samual van Hoogstraeten. Pieter de Hondt, Dutch publisher and bookseller (1696–1764).
