– (Beech-tree. Little Maple.) This engraving shows two separate studies of tree branches with leaves, presented side by side within a ruled rectangular frame. On the left is a beech tree branch (Beuke-boom), depicted with multiple overlapping leaves showing their characteristic oval shape and finely serrated edges. On the right is a small maple branch (Kleine Ahorn), illustrated with palmate, lobed leaves attached to a slender, slightly curved twig.
